Pat
Mallinger
Pat Mallinger, Tenor Saxophone
Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, Pat Mallinger first learned
to play the saxophone 32 years ago. Prior to settling in Chicago
in 1990 he spent time performing in Los
Angeles, Dallas, Boston, and Japan. Pat has been a member of
the Ensemble since the early 90s. He is also a co-leader of Sabertooth,
the mainstay band at Chicago’s Green Mill Lounge each Saturday
night for the last 15 years.
In addition to his work with the CJE, Mr.
Mallinger can be heard around town performing with the Chicago Jazz
Orchesta, Jim Ryan/Bobby Lewis Quintet, and the Pat Mallinger Quartet.
He performs concerts and festivals nationally and internationally
both as the Pat Mallinger Quartet and with various groups. His resume
includes work with world renowned performers including Joe Williams,
Nancy Wilson, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Harry Connick, and
the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Pat is an original member of the Ravinia
Jazz Mentor program, founded by Ramsey Lewis. For twelve years Pat
has mentored the underserved inner city youth through jazz performance
and clinics in Chicago Public High Schools.
